JHD539 16X4 Character LCD Pin Descriptions : –

The RS pin is use to select the register that the data written to. The RW pin is use to select whether the data written to or read from the LCD. The EN pin is use to enable the LCD. The LED pin is use to control the backlight of the LCD. The backlight can turn on or off, and the brightness can adjust.

• VDD: This pin is the power supply pin for the LCD module. It should connect to a 3.3V to 5V power supply.
• V0: This pin controls the contrast of the LCD display. A higher voltage will result in a higher contrast.
• RS: This pin is the register select pin. It is use to select which register in the LCD is being written to.
• RW: This pin is the read/write pin. It is use to select whether data is being written to or read from the LCD.
• EN: This pin is the enable pin. It is use to enable the LCD. When the EN pin is high, the LCD is enabled and will display data. When the EN pin is low, the LCD disabled and will not display data.
• D0-D7: These pins are the data pins. They are use to transmit data to the LCD. In 4-bit mode, only the first 4 data pins (D0-D3) used. In 8-bit mode, all 8 data pins (D0-D7) use.
• LED: This pin controls the backlight of the LCD. The backlight can turn on or off, and the brightness can adjust.
• NC: This pin not connected.
• GND: This pin is the ground pin. It should connect to the ground of the power supply.
