GY-9930-LLC APDS-9930 Proximity Gesture Sensor Module

The GY-9930-LLC APDS-9930 Proximity Gesture Sensor Module provides an I2C interface-compatible Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) and a proximity sensor with an infrared LED in a single 8-pin package, where the ambient light sensor uses a dual photodiode to approximate 0.01 lux illumination. The performance of the human eye visual response provides the high sensitivity that allows the device to operate after dark glass.

The GY-9930-LLC APDS-9930 Proximity Gesture Sensor Module is fully calibrated for 100 mm object detection, eliminating factory calibration requirements for terminal and subassemblies. From the bright sunlight to the dark room, the proximity detection function works well. The addition of micro-optical lenses to the module provides high efficiency of infrared energy transmission and reception, can reduce the overall power consumption.

In addition, the internal state machine allows the device to enter the low power mode, bringing very low average power consumption.

This GY-9930-LLC APDS-9930 Proximity Gesture Sensor Module consists of ambient light , IR and proximity sensors. The detection distance is up to 100 mm. The APDS-9930 sensor measures the ambient light. This sensor can also detect 0.01 Lux brightness in the dark. It can also be used behind dark glass like a mobile screen. For example, it turns off the touch screen during voice calls when your ear is close to the screen.

GY-9930-LLC APDS-9930 Proximity Gesture Sensor Module can be used to adjust the brightness of mobile backlight and the appropriate light response for various applications.

In addition, an internal state machine provides the ability to put the device into a low power mode in between ALS and proximity measurements providing very low average power consumption. The ALS provides a photopic response to light intensity in very low light condition or behind a dark faceplate.
