PL2303 USB to TTL Serial Converter Cable

This is a PL2303 USB to TTL Serial Converter Cable which allows for a simple way to connect TTL interface devices to USB. The I/O pins of this cable are configured to operate at 3.3V specifically with a Raspberry Pi with each serial pin broken apart.

The PL2303 USB to TTL Serial Converter Cable is a cost-effective way to convert TTL signal a USB interface. When connected to a PC USB port the AN-USB-TTL module is automatically detected and is installed as a native COM port which is compatible with any existing serial communication application.

USB to serial adapters are cables that convert the data sent by a serial-enabled device for use by a USB port. The serial end has a DB9 connector, which plugs into the serial device. The USB connector plugs into the computer’s USB port or a connected USB hub

The cable is easiest way ever to connect to your microcontroller/Raspberry Pi/WiFi router serial console port. Inside the big USB plug is a USB<->Serial conversion chip (Prolific PL2303) and at the end of the 36″ cable are four wire – red power, black ground, white RX into USB port, and green TX out of the USB port. The power pin provides the 5V @ 500mA direct from the USB port and the RX/TX pins are 3.3V level for interfacing with the most common 3.3V logic level chipsets.
