8×8 Dot Matrix MAX7219 MCU Control Display Generic Module

8×8 Dot Matrix MAX7219 is a common cathode display driver with serial input and parallel output. It is used to interface microprocessors and microcontrollers with 64 individual LEDs.

The 8×8 Dot Matrix MAX7219 is connected to the MAX 7219. The data input is received from the Arduino board to the MAX7219.

The MAX7219 chip makes it easier to control the dot matrix, by just using 3 digital pins of the Arduino board.

The MAX7219 LED driver can be used to control 7-segment displays up to 8 digits, bar-graph displays, or 64 individual LEDs. The driver communicates with the Arduino through SPI so you only need three wires to control the display.

The 8×8 Dot Matrix MAX7219 are usually used for the display of symbols, simple graphics and texts. Made of super bright LEDs, they produce low resolution display and can be daisy chained to produce larger displays.

The MAX7219 has a four wire SPI interface – clock, data, chip select and ground – making it very simple to connect to a microcontroller.
