12V 1W Zener Diode widely use in electronic equipment of all kinds and are one of the basic building blocks of electronic circuits. They are used to generate low power stabilized supply rails from a higher voltage and to provide reference voltages for circuits, especially stabilized power supplies. Also use to protect circuits from overvoltage, especially electrostatic discharge (ESD).

The 1n4742 is a Zener diode use for clipping circuits with high power rating. The Zener diode conducts in both directions i.e. forward-biased condition and reverse-biased condition.

A Zener Diode is an electronic component which can use to make a very simple voltage regulator circuit. This circuit enables a fixed stable voltage to be taken from an unstable voltage source such as the battery bank of a renewable energy system which will fluctuate depending on the state of charge of the bank.

12V 1W Zener Diode is a silicon diode that is optimize to work in what is known as the breakdown region. This means that hey are able to conduct when they are reverse-biased. This is unlike normal diodes, which will self-destruct. A zener diode’s breakdown voltages can range from 2 to 200 volts, making it useful in a variety of applications.

The Zener diode operates just like the normal diode when in the forward-bias mode, and has a turn-on voltage of between 0.3 and 0.7 V. However, when connected in the reverse mode, which is usual in most of its applications, a small leakage current may flow.
