The MAX7219CNG IC is a newer version of the MAX7219 that is pin-compatible and has the same features, but it is also RoHS compliant and has a lower power consumption. The MAX7219CNG is a serial input/output common cathode display driver that interfaces microprocessors (µPs) to 7-segment numeric LED displays of up to 8 digits, bar-graph displays, or 64 individual LEDs.

MAX7219 LED Display IC is a versatile chip that can use in a wide variety of applications. The MAX7219 is a common-cathode display driver IC with serial inputs and output pins. It can use to drive 7-segment numeric LED displays, bar-graph displays, or 64 individual LEDs.

Included on-chip are a BCD code-B decoder, multiplex scan circuitry, segment and digit drivers, and an 8X8 static RAM that stores each digit. Only one external resistor is required to set the segment current for all LEDs.

The MAX7219 Driver IC is compatible with SPI™, QSPI™, and MICROWIRE™, and has slew-rate-limited segment drivers to reduce EMI. A convenient 4-wire serial interface connects to all common μPs. Individual digits may be addressed and updated without rewriting the entire display.

This MAX7219 8X8 LED Matrix IC also allow the user to select code-B decoding or no-decode for each digit. The devices include a 150μA low-power shutdown mode, analog and digital brightness control, a scan-limit register that allows the user to display from 1 to 8 digits, and a test mode that forces all LEDs on.

The MAX7219 Driver IC can operate with an input voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V. The recommended operating voltage is 5V. The maximum supply voltage is 5.5V. If the input voltage is outside of the specified range, the MAX7219 may not operate properly or may damage.

Features : –

The MAX7219 Display Driver IC has a built-in regulator that converts the input voltage to a regulated 5V supply for the internal circuitry.
